History

In the mid-1990s, a group of singers began gathering informally for an annual presentation of Handel's Messiah in December of each year. In 1998, Barbara Perry stepped forward to lead the group, which came together each year by word of mouth from various local church and community choirs. The 1999 performance saw an increase in the size, technical proficiency and community attendance at the concert. Singers from that group decided to formally organize to ensure that the performances would continue and the Stafford Regional Choral Society was born. The newly formed Choral Society immediately expanded to offer a regular schedule of  concerts throughout the year. Currently SRCS produces a minimum of two free community productions and one fundraiser annually.

The Choral Society is very fortunate to  enjoy the direction of Anola Douglas as our Music and Artistic Director for the 2024-2025 concert season. She is talented, patient, fun, and makes every rehearsal educational and uplifting.

Cathy Hoskins
SRCS Accompanist

Cathy Hoskins is an amazing accompanist, splitting her time between ensembles at the University of Mary Washington and the Stafford Regional Choral Society.

Cathy has been with the University of Mary Washington for the past 27 years as the accompanist for the Music Department as well as the Theatre Department.  She loves music and people.  "I knew when I walked into my first Stafford Regional Choral Society rehearsal that I had found "my people".  I was welcomed and loved - being a part of a group like this is FANTASTIC!"
